The woman loved to pray aloud. Every night, after she locked the hens, she entered the room filled with rugs of cloth on the floor, and she kneeled and prayed. Last night, as she was looking at the icon hanging on the wall, she said that she was craving some big, juicy cherries like the ones Veta has in her garden. The next day she found a basket filled with cherries in front of her house. God heard my prayers, and the woman shouted happily. It was actually her boy that heard her from the closet. Every night he would hide in there to hear his mother's prayers.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
