Every night I fall asleep next to you, a breath away. I whisper dreams over your eyelids. In the morning, I sit in the same place, next to the window, where we drink our coffee. You put two sugars and a splash of milk in your cup. I go into the bathroom with you, in the shower. I kiss your every beautifully aged mole. We go to the market hand in hand, we buy cheese and a kilo of tomatoes. Then we go to the garden. You pick some flowers and we head to the grave. There, I let go of your hand and lay back down in the ground. I listen to your cries. An eternity.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
