The operation was successful. As a bartender I have enough experience to do my job with this handicap. I've removed my eyes so as not to be distracted by the beauties in the club. It's not easy, because I can hear their voices and smell their perfumes. Now those senses are much more developed. I chose this life. I swore I had eyes only for her. It wasn't enough, she left with my best friend, the doctor who operated on me. That was the last time he practiced his profession. He confessed to me that he only had eyes for her.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
