Give me a high five, she told me in her primadonna voice. Canci chiromancy, it's just punishment for homework not done. I counted to ten, admiring her cleavage. Even as tears welled up in my eyes, I imagined her climbing up the desk and teaching me the letter V over and over again. But everything has an end. When I heard 2, sit down, I looked at my desk mate and told himt hrough my teeth to find out her address, even though I didn't want to share it with anyone. It was the ABCs of my immature life, the stuff of nights lost in literary ecstasy.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
