The angel whispered to me that what I was doing was wrong, but did the poor thing really think that I would've listened to his word? For a boy my heart danced around with joy, and we lived our eternal love, as even the primordial pair never dreamed of. But the angel kept shouting at me, you're crazy to think that he loves you indeed, look here, it's finished. He even shoved me, these winged ones don't mess with their job, now I see. I watched everything, I died, I did flee. Shall I say that I sometimes look back, flogged by the rain, towards a lost paradise, but all in vain?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
