Joițo, what does he look like? He a beauty. His eyes are like that, a little squinty, his hair is black like a raven's feather, he's clean, fragrant, he smells like smoked incense, he's small, gentle and smiley. And he has all his teeth white as fresh cheese. And what is he doing in our village? I think he went the wrong way, but he fell in love with me. I think he's Orlando's Chinese, Florica, he's his mentor. He's gay. You mean Orlando is gay with my beautiful man? I will go and see the priest to give him akathist and he will get better. Or block his wedding rings with a padlock from his grave.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
