Come on, come here! Look up at me, don't keep your eyes on the ground. Don't tell me I don't love you. That last night I had a dream where I saw you dead and I woke up crying. Ottilia, do you know how the tears ran down my cheeks? Deep furrows of pain dug those drops in me. Had I been Nicaraguait wouldn't have flowed the pain I was feeling because I lost you. Yes, you hear, right? Why did I die? Riddle. You couldn't tell me that you were dead. Dead, you say, why? Because you're stupid.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
