Black eyes, brown hair, on the apricot cheek, a hazel nut. She throws her skirt in the wind, hits the ground with me, with a hip like a wing, I'm lost from the first moment. The mouth, smiling sullenly, has the name of sin and a voice of ripe honey that bewitches me in a whisper. I look at her longingly, thoughtfully. A girl as fine as a secret, I want to go in to untie her, to tie her up, to make her a bouquet of flowers, to make her sun, snow and a moment of celebration, but she escapes through my hands and remains a riddle.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
