If the homeroom teacherset her sights on you, you were done for, she'd keep hitting you with low grades. And if she got you between her slender thighs, it was impossible to escape. This is my award for best in class on the last day of high school, she told me. She wriggled stronglyatop me like a decapitated chicken on the white pretentious sheet laid out on the chemistry lab couch. But I'm not the best in the class, I stammered. Yes you are, believe me, she said, looking up through her sky-high lashes. I checked the other 17 too.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
