We have been fighting for two days and closed ourselves and our bodies in two different rooms with only a common wall. Pride, sobs, repressed catharsis, strangled love from a curse created by us. I did not want kids, you wanted. I miss the time when I could smell your neck before going to sleep, to hear your intermittent breath when you'd had colourful dreams. I placed the glass on the wall exactly at midnight and I heard how you'd fed and caressed our child. I heard your scream asking me to bring you a diaper. You were talking in your sleep. I took the pickaxe and started crying.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
