I lay down in one of the displayed coffins and closed my eyes. Did you make a decision, asked the lad. Not yet. I'd like to try on a few more. Are you dying? Not at all. Then, an awkward silence fell upon us. So, what do you need it for? I lifted up my skirt so I could hop in the sustainable one, since it's so popular, a friend of the nature, easier to nibble on for the worms. I asked him to close the lid, then I shouted. I'm in search for the sacred. The sack, madam? The sacred, sir. Well, in here? Yes, in here too.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
