You were screaming inside me as intense as I was quiet inside you. We had pretty much told everything to each other, not it was only echoes reverberating. What sense will the ruptures, the uprootings, the mourning that we unleashed behind us have then? Bungee jumping, roller coaster life, climbing on the soul and rappelling on the body? There is nothing left of what could have been, no new wings have grown on us, no flights from which we can soar too high. The earth is more stable, more humble. Take the keys, turn off the music and turn off the lights.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2022, the group has 9,250 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
