All the gals would call him Leek. She didn't know why. Maybe because he's Oltenian. He's a fine lad, an artist and a ladies' man. But they were all flings. After a party they ended up in bed. Although tipsy, she was nervous. Especially when he embraced her. Body to body, she tenderly caressed him, but the bulge pressing into her backside alarmed her. Might be the remote, she kept telling herself. When he whispered in her ear, sorry, we laid on the leeks my mom gave me, she died. Of laughter. All flings had heard this line, until at one point, they stopped running from the leek.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
