they were feasting on a large sausage from the pantry. They had no fork so they used the pickaxe. Whoever saw them could swear they were all drunk or pretentious broads crying about how everything is vulgar while muttering obscenities under their breath. Gossip travels fast round the corner, but they still glue their beaks together. Words come cheap but theirs come even cheaper. Language is used poorly, yet they see themselves as top gossips.Try not to behave like gossiping birds. All is well, but what of their brothers? Well, they're alive and well, minding the cows.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
