What did you say you had? Depression? That type of disease that city folk have? I think you didn't get your ears boxed when you were supposed to. The animals have to be taken to the watering hole, I roasted some fish in some egg crumb. Come on, we don't have time for all this nonsense you got up with. What lazy hands are those that can't chop the wood for winter, that let me do all these chores by myself? Are you crying now? Alas, God's child, if I lay a hand on you, you won't escape even on Tibb's Eve.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
