The night, bared of all earthly belongings, runs, inhumanly, from the Moon, up to the Big Dipper and walks whistling in the sky. The dogs in the village keep barking at her, but she couldn't care less. She throws stars at them and laughs shamelessly. But she is the one I want. And I will make a cart of my own, I will harness one thousand flies to this cart, and I will wait. And when I catch her, I shall dress her in a wedding gown, I will take her to the priest, so he could join her with me, I shall turn her into a human being and make her clean the house. And when we finish, she will take me up in the sky, and I'll be just like her, inhuman.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2022, the group has 9,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
