I was riding on the tram staircase and suddenly I felt like a winner. At birth I could have been among the children who make up the infant mortality rate. At school I didn't fall into the backyard toilet. During the revolution I was not among those who argued for the transfer of power. At the club we didn't burn because the room was a death trap. I eat cheap, toxic food, getting windy is a problem, but these times stink too. I travel on deadly roads. I've been hospitalized to get rid of one issue and I've gotten rid of several.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
