I got tired of hearing that it doesn't make sense. My glass was filled with vile thoughts, with fears, with Why Me's. Tonight I lay my head on the pillow and sigh. Tomorrow will be another journey down the noisy tube, new holes in the soul. When I feel the IV in my hand, my heart trembles. When that disgusting liquid runs through my body, I know it's just a little while before another shrug. We're sorry, that's all we can do. Well, don't be. You're human too, white coats don't make you gods. I'm NOT giving up, I've got a baby to love.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
