I had a brilliant idea. Oh, shut up, you moron! You and your brilliant ideas. Yes, I did, Mommy, all the kids admitted I was brilliant. Well, what brilliant idea did you have? I put a firecracker under the teacher's desk. And? And when the teacher turned around to write welcome on the blackboard, I got down on all fours. And? And I lit the fuse. And? And it exploded. And? And the teacher freaked out. And didn't she get mad? Not at all, in fact she rewarded me. With what, thug? She extended my vacation until next fall.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
