I've written my last text, that of the cross. Don't weep. Here on Earth, I was some weird guy like you all. You won't remember me, as I won't remember life, once I step on the velvet of oblivion. I tell you with the last of my scribbles on this paper that was both mother and father to me, during the reclusion of my fictional hours. Run ragged as I am, I will put the letter in an envelope, stamp it, seal it with wax, and by putting my seal of death on it, I will leave behind my last memory, of the man who was, at one point, the author of the 500 texts.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
