I don't want to kill you. I just want to take your sanity away. To make you think nonsense. To talk crazy. Make a fool of yourself. Show your ugly face. The little girl was weavingthe doll made of husk. When the leaves dry up, you'll dry up too. If I cut your hair, you'LL BECOME bald. If Isnap your neck, you'll become numb. If I break your leg, you'll be crippled. But I won't do anything to you. I. CAN. And that's good enough for me, she said contentedly and slipped the doll under her pillow. Then she patted the pillow with her hands to straighten it. Downstairs, the beaten man woke up screaming.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
