I don't know if Lady Luck was around when I came into the world, but I do know that my father made sure that I carried the horse shoe he gave me when I was a kid. But Fortune was nothing more than this assiduous, day-to-day effort to build me moments of happiness. Until that fateful day, I avoided suffering with all my being. But He had to appear. With a missing horseshoe. Generously, I gave him my horseshoe. And gone he was, winged like Pegasus. He left me his saddle. I've been telling stories ever since.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
