Wasn't that a dream, sir? Ee, it was a dream, wasn't it, if I do say so. They were following me. I was running fast, in front of me was the lake, I jumped over it, in front of me was a well, I jumped over it as well, I found myself in front of the Great Wall. The Romanian one. I jumped over this one too. They were still behind me. How's that, you said they were garden gnomes. Yep, and so they were. But I had them in my backpack. It wasn't them that were following me. It was kangoo jumps. I stole their shoes. Well then, you were talking about luck, what luck were you talking about? Come on, really? I didn't break any of those gnomes.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
