I was lazing around, ignoring the alarm, when suddenly I felt a few punches in the small of my back, so bad that my heart started pounding. I turned and found a strange midget that was poking me hard. Who, what? I'm luck, get up, we have work to do. I have no luck, I say, dumbfounded. And then luck can't be this ugly, I was thinking of more of a cute green four-leaf clover. Nonsense. Take a good look at me, or else I'm going to get upset and leave. Buzz off! He blew me a kiss and disappeared. I jumped out of my dream with a stupid grin.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
