I'm drunk. Maybe it's the perfume of the last moments spent with you. Fuck, I've run headfirst into a tree. I stop and look at myself in a shop window and I see that part of me is still running. Is it running towards you? Suddenly I remember I left you enclosed in a story, where you are, but also what I often imagine about you. You may be a fantasy. Now I don't even know what to do. To go back? To move forward? An old couple sit on a bench and share a coffee. Oh my God, that could have been us, if we had dared.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2022, the group has 9,580 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
