He was caressing her back feeling each and every bone of her spine, what an unending backbone. Bone, after bone, after bone. He took her skull in his hands and he kissed her all around. She was looking through him, literally, with those eyes that other times had looked at his eyes. The wine slid easily down their throats, and they felt it trickling down their insides. Take it off, he whispered where the ear was. Do you wish for more than this? Anytime and for all time. They knew that they were already skeletons in this world, but it mattered not. When they found them years later, the ash covered their nakedness.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2022, the group has 9,880 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
