You've been telling me for a lifetime that we are together in this, and yet, you don't take the kid to school and the moments lived in your absence are piling up. Damn it. I definitely feel wrong, and our life is getting emptier by day. I never ask myself where you're going or who you think you are. My friends keep telling me they saw you with someone else, and I lie to me saying it's only a joke. Today, I have decided to get a divorce, since you haven't been a father figure or a husband. Never show your face here again. In our life, you have always been, well, absent. If only I could see your corpse at the Apocalypse.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2022, the group has 9,880 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
