I went to college, I fell in love, I gained weight eating bread and pâté, I lost weight with bulimia, I got a job and I drink wine from plastic bottles from the liquor storein Gara de Nord. I talk with my mother every day on yahoo messenger and not at all with my friends from high school. Now I'm a journalist, I don't have time to fool around anymore, I only mix with important people. I'm sleep-deprived, haggard, always on the phone, I smoke and tell people that I'm no longer eating carbs. It's the first Christmas at home in 3 years. You promised, sweetie. Huh? You promised you wouldn't end up sad like your mother.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2022, the group has 9,880 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
