You gave it to me when you confessed your love to me. I already loved you. Ever since I saw you on the street for the first time, two years ago. Since then, we did cross paths, but you did not notice me. I think you were not ready. But then the accident occurred, and she died, then I appeared in your life. I lied to you that she had been my colleague. But all's fair in love, right? So I do not understand why you wanted the key back today. You said you no longer have feelings for me, that I am insane. Good thing now you've calmed down. I think you are freezing; you are cold. I'll bring a blanket to wrap ourselves up. Me? Insane? Seriously?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2023, the group has 10,220 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
