Look at her, brother, look at her. I could eat her up. Look at her rosy mouth. She went out into the sun, but is laying in the shade, she's shivering with excitement, it's clear. I expected that she was waiting for me, poor soul. And I have been looking for her for so long in this neighbourhood, so many nights spent doing so. For so long I've been dreaming about her allure that I got - Forgive me God for my words, as I said I wouldn't have any more concupiscent thoughts. The time has come. I'll even get her a flower, for a good first impression. Do my whiskers look alright? I'll go now, I can't wait anymore. Meeeaaow.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2023, the group has 10,500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
