Hi, mommy. How are you doing? Grandma and I are doing fine. We bought wood, so we're not cold anymore. Thank you for the ball too. I put it next to that new tracksuit to play with it in the summer when you're coming back. Eat the vegetable spread we have sent you, mommy. I helped too. I hope it's not too salty. Some of my tears fell into it. Because of the onion. I know I promised that I wouldn't cry because I am a big boy. Bye, mommy. I love you. C'mon, you. What are you reading for, you're not in the library. Go work. In the cold street, my heart is warm. In the morning she will eat vegetable spread while longing for them.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2023, the group has 10,500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
