The bricklayer was busily building the wall of the house until,at daybreak, he could no longer catch sight of the earth, when looking down, and when looking up, he had already lost count of the number of floors in heaven. Although he lost count of the number of Anas he had encased in the wall, as well as the number of years that had passed, he had not lost his obstinacy. I told you before that the door is smaller than the key, but can you see the invisible walls I've built? I encourage open-hearted people to read this text, even if they have the smallest hearts in the world, just as I encourage the biggest broken hearts in this same world, too.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2023, the group has 10,790 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
