The years had been hard for her soul, but not for her body. She was as slender as 15 years ago when he had seen her in the schoolyardsipping juice, wearing cut-off jeans, her hair of an undefined blonde. She was no longer a child, since then. He had taken care of that. Now in front of him there were a glass of whiskey and a femme fatale with perfect legs, captive in fishnet stockings. Ever since she had received his invitation she had been feeling both anguish and elation. They quickly left the bar. The screech of the owl covered the sound of the muffler. The street was silent, covered in the scent of Lady Vengeance perfume.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2023, the group has 10,790 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
