Once upon a time an irresponsible mother sent her minor girl into the forest to her grandmother with a basket full of things on which she wrote "The Daily Basket". As soon as the child entered in the forest, the fog appeared. He hardly noticed the signs: Towards Grandmother's House, through The Wolf's Den - one hour away - and The Hunter's Cabin - one hour away. Where should I take it, the girl asked herself. She took her phone out of her pocket: Siri, help me! she said. Siri answered: Your grandmother has gone to the bathroom, the wolves have disappeared for a long time, the hunter is Țiriac. So there is no story. Go home, baby.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2023, the group has 11,260 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
