The lion climbed down from the zebra fur bed and stretched out his paws. Boy, am I hungry. He clutched a coyote by the throat as a bell and the monkey came running with a tray in his hand. Where's breakfast? The monkey stared into the tray. There it was. Across the courtyard, a chicken without feathers was running around frantically, looking for a way out. The lion thunders. There he is. Breakfast. It's either you or him. Run. He scratches himself and chases away some sleeping fleas. What a bore. He pulls out a big trunk and the shower starts instantly. The lion thunders. It's cold, you asshole. You're all fools. What a dog's life.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2023, the group has 11,260 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
