Heavy footed like a Roman centurion with his boots slicing the silence just like the falcon's flight was slicing the sky. The road was wide, crossing over the horizon, his steps were carving the moment into the rounded stone. His journey was a book in the making. And then his boot started to slide between the ever-growing rocks, his steps began to tremble and the road to slip away from under his feet. The hills and the valleys were the flint once kneaded by feet.Advancing became a burden. One could have guessed the end of the road from under the devilishly looking fog, while climbing over the cliff in the mountains.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2023, the group has 11,430 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
