She dropped her ink on the floor and began to laugh like crazy. Then, to his surprise, she knelt down and rolled into the ink scattered on the carpet. She spread it everywhere, on her breasts, on her neck, on her lips. Her blond hair was blue now, and she moaned like a possessed woman. She incited him to see her like this so he pulled her into his arms, then began to write a story on her body. An endless one, in which he sank with each new letter. He was exploding. He was dripping. He died and was reborn again. He stopped only to catch his breath.

He protested, raised his fists, cried, but had no escape. Along the way he noticed that he actually liked it. Barren years passed one after another, the oceans receded leaving behind tons of plastic and poisoned fish, the Sahara stretched to the Baltic Sea, nations fought for wheat, fresh water was rated at the same price as gold, the rich took refuge in sunbathing at the poles. Undisturbed, the old man with the white beard wrote in his notebook seventy times seven: I am a bad child. Then he started over.

They knew the only solution, but it terrified them. They also lollygagged at the meeting of the Superhero's Board of Directors. My god, change that lollygagged, Wonder Woman shouted. Narrator, you've been to inclusive and politically correct behaviour classes, find another word. They postponed the decision to call him, okay? Although Graphoman, brought here, would quickly solve their problem, the Superheroes knew they would suffer too. That one, once unleashed, would release such a flood of written aberrations and useless words that the world would be in danger of suffocation.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2023, the group has 11,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
