The woman tasted the soup once more, then poured a ladle of it in the bowl. She painstakingly arranged all the parsley leaves in the shape of a heart. How else would she convey that she loves him? She had been working for them for 15 years and she hoped he would notice her. She'd wake up dreaming that he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her neck. She felt a bitter taste in her mouth. The leaves scattered around, hiding the forbidden substance. Eh, she thought to herself, platonic love worthy of S.F. (Soft Fiction), if not in this life maybe in the next one.

Electro-Gogu had stolen the heart of princess Quarrelia of the Fairy Galaxy. He wasn't all that special compared to other robots of his generation but he did have an anode and a cathode for hands, with which he could melt any metal, even thick casings like Quarrelia's. Three Princes-Without-Teeth (they deteriorated themselves in the fights between the pinions) were sent to rescue her but Gogu was unyielding. The offered him a high-tech CPU and some cozy-electrodes but Gogu refused. He turned her into a fountain in his yard. She gushes skyward 80 times per minute.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2023, the group has 12,210 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
