It has been following me everywhere for some time. At home. On the street. On the bus. On nice weather or on bad weather. While I watch the TV. When I go grocery shopping. Hey, go away, dude! Have you got no business? I feel it there somewhere above my right shoulder. Floating. Rather hanging. With eyes closed. Sleeping but no longer dreaming. It smiles. Enticingly. Creepy. Disgustingly. It swings as if hanged on the arm of a weighted scale. I know how it got there. It got up on a chair. The chair fell on the floor. He stood. H____d.

She was in the maximum security prison, she was looking into his eyes and was jabbering, justice is not on your side, the child will not know his father, I lost my memory, even so I don't need to see in order to believe you, just talk to me. Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In December 2023, the group has 12,210 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
