Maybe it is extremely difficult to be faced with a "New Folder", it's like standing in front of an empty field that you should work one way or another. You don't have to do it, but it would be a shame to let it fill with weeds. So you'll try to plant a few seeds that you had in your pocket by throwing them, after you use your fingers as the blade of a plough and turn the soil as much as you can. You kept them in your pocket for that moment when you would have to grow something on the empty field in front of you.

I met her last night, at the party. She made me change from a bastard to something even more hideous. A romantic. Everything dies, except you, I told her. Not today, that's for sure, she answered and laughed. Out loud. Heartily. At the turn of the year she licked my ear and lit up my entire sky. She loved me all night long. At ten o'clock I wrote to her, she couldn't resist. Are we still in love today? Nothing. I opened a beer and tried not to think about her. Nothing. It took 2 hours for my phone to vibrate. Today I'm in love with someone else.

That whiny Andreea is also at the table, the colleague who's always making eyes at my husband. I'm serving tripe soup. I would give her acid. Everyone is singing my praises. As they should, since I worked like a fool and didn't set my eyes on somebody else's husband. They gobble down happily and ask for more garlic sauce. I would pour that in her underwear, the cow. Corneluș swore he has nothing to do with her. Who the hell trusts him, especially since I've opened that memory stick. New folder. He thinks I'm an idiot. Naked pictures of that tart. I'm waiting for the jackass to catch it with his spoon. I'm going to shove it down his throat.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2024, the group has 12,700 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
