Back in '83, when I met the godfather, King Gică, I had nothing to do with football. He helped me and introduced me to the team's locker room, to sell cheese and yogurt to the players, because my father had a big flock of sheep. From then on I started to like Steaua. By 2003, I wanted to become a public figure and Piți helped me get into the team. That's when I realised I knew football better than anyone. I bought some rams and made myself a flock, the great expectations, some scamps, them and me together, the good Christ is my witness.

When the immortality was given out I was in line for the cream because it was Thursday and Piști came, he sat on the left, glued to my sleeve and I thought that he also sat for the cream but no, after an hour he sat glued like that and I said a can please, he said I promise to be a good husband and I won't drink and I will worship you like a goddess. I said, No way, they're closing the immortality and I won't get it. I ran away and caught a little immortality that squeezes me and won't let me breathe right. Push, push.
Carmen Tot
As always when nothing in me responded, I walked to the distant hill where three stone Jewish crosses crumbled into the stillness of the world, and after wishing the dead well, by name, I sat down in my self to see how I was getting on with the love, the life, the rage of youth. There I sat till the lame wolf came up and said to me: he wins who rolls the fastest to the bottom. I threw myself down laughing, the grass prickling my young ribs and all I saw was sky and earth. I ended up someone else. Just as the wolf had expected.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2024, the group has 12,700 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
