A sprinkling of stardust, harvested during a meteor shower. Pink moonbeam essence. Fairy giggles, but beware their mischievous side. Wonka's cocoa bean combined with Cupid's rum will be easy for you, since he's always drunk. The laughter of an infatuated hyena, find one at the comedy club. Combine them all in a cauldron and mix clockwise, then counterclockwise and finally, do the Cha-Cha slide for 77 seconds. Costel, get the purse, we're eating out tonight.

One hour a day. She sat there, his chest warmed by the sun, her eyes lit up by the sky and her mind bewitched. Her chestnut curls fluttered, framing her cheeks, her body wrapped in the green velvet dress, on her feet the flip-flops turned into her favorite snakeskin shoes. Around her neck, the necklace that George brought from Czechoslovakia. Then he would appear from the garden calling her, My dear, will you give me this dance? Then midnight struck and they would come to take her. Come on, grandma. And the wheels squealed on the dingy linoleum, back to the lounge.

Vera goes to Granny Manga with steam coming out of her ears. Granny, Pricop is cheating on me. Do your thing, ruin that old bat Gilda's life, so that my Prichi stops visiting her. Manga sets her bloodshot eyes on her, from behind colorful skirts. Vera, I'd do a charm for you, but we were taught at school that you can't do black magic with a white chicken. You couldn't find a worse one? Pricop came over too, he brought a fat black rooster, and a liter of plum brandy. That's how you come to Granny. He told me about some man, but you already know him well. Starting tomorrow, this Panfil guy's heart will start hurting a little.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2024, the group has 12,800 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
