I went to the paramecium with the guys. We didn't watch the paramecium that long but there was a green euglena with some spectacular cilia. We didn't have enough money for the euglena, of course, so we got some run-of-the-mill mushrooms to pull their spores, we weren't good at anything else anyway. They took us somewhere and told us to forget that address because there are some guys that will break our protozoa if we say something. I spotted them, they'd just sprouted out of their single-cells. They took their membrane off and, when I saw their spores, I thought I was in the ninth nucleus.

Our embrace seemed more of a welding. After we extracted our cells from one another, you whispered that you will wait for me at midnight. The memorized address burned my veins. Shaking with passion, I waited for the lights to go off inside the house, I climbed up the ivy up to your cracked window. The clothes jumped off me by themselves and I took you in the hungry blaze that was scalding me. You answered with the same passion and a heavenly delirium followed that night. In the sparse daylight, it wasn't you. I was at the wrong address.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2024, the group has 12,800 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
