If I hadn't received a telescope, I wouldn't have known what was going on inside my neighbours' houses. On the first night, I used it for its main purpose and I looked at the stars bored. Then, the lens turned towards the houses nearby. In the villa rented by students a great party was being held. Upstairs, a blonde showing off her naked breasts was moving back and forth. The telescope could see even my mother-in-law's neighbourhood. A couple making out in front of the window. That chick looked like my wife. I would've shown it to her if she hadn't been away for twelve days at her mother's.

We're sorry to inform you that we, The Supreme Council for the Defense of Arts, find this play to be puerile. Meaning that the sister thinks her brother is dead, but he is on the exact opposite opinion, she dresses up as a man and you find this comic. Not even the title is good, The Twelfth Night or As You Like It. Well, Mr. Author, we do not like it. Read something else and come back next year with a better play. William S. - Rejected. The second candidate is for painting. He lacks talent. Quit painting, better join the military. Adolf H. - Rejected.

The guide was leading the group on the mountain path. Long time ago, the cave cut in the stone opened its mouth widely towards the village. The cursed lands were dominated by a peculiar creature. Hirsute face, inhumane growling, wolf claws. Towards the evening, tourists descended the steep slopes wearily. Separated from the group, Miruna was an hour ahead on the track. Inside the cave's mouth, twelve animal footprints shined in the scarlet moonlight.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2024, the group has 12,860 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
