Răzvan Drăgoi
I could feel the coolness of the wall. It was hastily plastered. My pulse was racing. You're a shadow, Răzvan. No noise. Like a ninja. I was walking backwards, so I wouldn't be spotted immediately. In case I was intercepted, I was walking in the right direction, towards where I was supposed to be. But inside was the explosives and poison manufacturing base. I didn't want to be an accomplice. They were taking advantage of our naivety. I won't be caught and used to it. This was my plan: to skip the chemistry class.

Happy birthday, Mihai, you're 11 years old, big boy now blah blah, I already stopped listening to my uncle, Tiberiu, I call him Toby, because he looks like the guy from The Office. No, I'm not too young to watch that movie, my mom watches it and she gives me the permission to watch it too. Where was I? I feel my life drain out of me when I hear him chattering away, like a dusty old clock, incessant and monotonous. You know, Mihai, I've always wanted superpowers, says the sleepy frog, what superpowers do you want? I want you to disappear. Sorry, I want to disappear.
Gabriel Rusu
God gave my grandfather six grandchildren, all boys. We were loved equally and called blessings. He always claimed that this is how He, tries to correct some wrongs done to man's disadvantage. After he had gone through a mining accident that left him almost paralyzed, the one above decided to steal his only son. One day, a speeding man took him on his bonnet and Neluțu never got up from the ground. Nevertheless, the grandfather got up on crutches and went on.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2024, the group has 13,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
