So, girl, I met a guy. He added me on Facebook one night. I accepted. For diversity. Corporate life is boring, you know. I was sure it wasn't him in the profile picture, he was too hot. What do you know, it was him. Gentle, thoughtful, expensive gifts. He wanted me to only wear high heels. His kink. I insisted on meeting his parents. He's got no time, he's away on business trips, maybe later. Until I found the picture in his wallet. I wanted to end it, but he won't leave me alone. Please, tell your husband to leave me alone. Eat up, it's melting.

I'm pedaling. The wind blows through me. I can feel it gently caressing my heart. But she doesn't feel anything, she's frozen. On each side I see wheat fields and their rustling floods my mind like a white noise. I take a turn towards the bridge which I could barely see a minute ago. I'll get to the end. I won't carry the burden of so many mistakes, known or unknown, someone else will weigh them know, maybe. Or everything will end as if it never existed. I let myself fall. I close my eyes and a tear flies with me. Rustling and wind. There's nothing on the other side.

In a binary system of two equations with two variables, one could be zero, or the other, or both, or none. What are the values of variables x and y, in all four cases, in the following system; 1. x + y = 0. 2. (x +y) / xy = 0. In which x and y are irrational numbers. Come on, Lucică, put that math away and let's go grab a little ice cream, you can take the baccalaureate in the fall, too, but the ice cream not so much... Asclepius, you don't give a fuck, you have to pass the physical education test. Philosophical-essayistic-imaginative conversation because of and due to the heat. Don't mind us.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2024, the group has 13,230 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
