I know everything about you. I think I could answer all security questions. Like, what is your mother's maiden name.I can change your passwords. I know why you chose this job. Why you chose to stay. I know all your friends' problems and the person your boss is sleeping with. I know the type of movies you like. The hours you eat. I know that beer makes you more cheerful. That wine makes you sad. That you only make love in the morning before your settings are uploaded. But you freak out, scream and call the police instead of being glad that you have a fan?

What is your name, he asked her, lying in bed, watching her moving around the hotel room naked. She got closer with panther-like moves ready to attack. My name is, I think it doesn't even matter. She leaned down, kissed him, let her breasts caress his neck, her lips touched his ear and a warm steam whispered, I have to go. Once he arrived in the city, he stopped by his father's place first. He wanted to introduce him to his future step mother. Hello, darling, nice to meet you. My name is, I think it doesn't even matter.

George Dometi
Now, tell me, did your mother pass away? His small eyes remained silent. Yes, sir. And you say this was ten years ago when you were three? Yes, sir. And how did your house burn down? From a candle, cause we didn't have electricity in the house, sir. You can call it a hut, alright? Yes, sir. And your father and grandmother died in the fire? Yes, sir. And everything you had? Yes, sir. Good. Dorel, turn on the camera and shoot from this side. What do you mean why? Can't you see he's more hurt on the left cheek? Boy, don't wipe your nose. May I cry, sir? Yes, a lot.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2024, the group has 13,320 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
