At first time I noticed he was a harsh guy, he clearly told me to step aside, but no, there is enough space for everybody, then I realised that he could easily knock me down, like an axe, he hit me terrible that I stumbled to the rock of Gibraltar, he got really angry when I came back full of blood, he kicked me with his left foot so heavy that I drowned into the ground, I returned covered soaking in the blood and in hot burning lava. Is that all the best you can do? There is no way that all you got, I told him with a grin, I could have choked him and crush him into crumbles but instead I ate him.

And everything started in a jumble. The cardinal points have perished. And people speak to her in a twisted way, from the last to the first sound. And she looks, amazed, at the yellowish, dirty foliage floating up towards the branches, along with the drops of hot rain that vanish in the clouds. And she runs behind in the grey sky, with streets above the crown boiling. And she wants to turn everything back, to not hear the absurd, to revoke the verdict. And his head throb intensely in a brutal, insane exhaustion. And she hears only the crackling that splits her heart.

She has everything, except the assignment. Miss, I'm obliged to give you a four. I apologize, but I haven't been feeling well. Bored, I suggest she finds a more interesting excuse. I'm updating my system, fixing some security issues that came up in the press, and setting myself to a minimal level of expectation. In the meantime, her story becomes too interesting, and I feel my level of excitement rising. I struggle to hold back. I've lost the My Containment program; I am searching for it in a hurry, a red light is flashing insistently, then darkness.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2024, the group has 13,320 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
