I had seen a Tik Tok video in which a gentleman who was dressed to the nines said that when problems, crises, sorrow, quarrels, and bad health knock at your door, all you have to do is open the door, welcome them at your table and serve them some jam and a glass of cold water, this is a sign from God for you to turn your face again to success, so I was very surprised when two Traffic police officers knocked at my door holding a Stop sign. Folded. I told them there was nothing but whiskey in my fridge.

He created the world, then became sick with the cult of personality. In a moment of hysteria, he ordered the scarification of children. If it weren't for his wife, there would be no childlren left. Once, he drowned the earth because he was angry. Few of them escaped. He sent his son among the earthlings after a while. His father made him in his own image, but he was talking about love using a new term. Forgiveness. The poor man ended up in terrible pain, crucified. I think he paid for his father's mistakes, because we, humans, can't obey anyone.

Just like a poor cripple who can still feel his amputated body part, he could still feel his soul torn up in two pieces. He could feel one side pulsing with the greed of worldly pleasures, and the other one struggling helplessly in the claws of death. The demon, the creature with an angel-like face was standing in front of the mirror, and in the mirror, there was the man, the wrinkled old man with a cloudy look, two faces of the same coin, as old as time. The young man burst into laughter, entertained by the old man's tears and pleased with the done deal.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2024, the group has 13,400 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
