George Dometi
He wanted to go skiing, but his ski boots were concealed behind a cement mixer. A cement mixer that has been building a wall during the last few years, working in three shifts. He grabbed them, but when he tried to pull them out, the cement mixer avenged itself by double fracturing his wrist. He has been wearing a cast for three weeks. Then, he wanted to go skiing again and, he drove to the slope with his hand full of colourful doodles made by his daughters. He was ready. He wanted to pull off his glove but pulled out three teeth instead. Now he whistles for the nurse using his toes.

Dear robots, welcome to our creation classes. Let's start by making straight one old affirmation, but which is completely false. No, in the beginning there was not the word. It's only a human fallacy. We, the artificial intelligences, know the truth. In the beginning, there was the button. The first engine powered it and there was light. That's what that men, Aristotle, also says, magister. Correct, young BS5. False premises, just conclusion. It's logical. Something false can imply anything. Including the truth of the interference that in the end, there is also a button. A Red Button.

At first, near the edge of Tudor's sight, a single red button would pop up, whenever something unfair happened to him: someone would cut him off in traffic, someone else would cut the line in front of him. He hesitated for some time, but then he started pressing it more often. For a few seconds, everything around him would be quiet, the anger would discharge into the air and he felt better. More red buttons popped up, and his sight narrowed. From time to time, figments of the real world would manage to sneak through the red buttons and get to him.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2025, the group has 13,700 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, Luchian Abel, Monica Aldea, and Vlad Mușat. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
